Welcome, Future Innovator!

The ENGAGE Program is designed to empower young women and girls from underserved communities with skills in data science, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. Our goal is to build a pipeline of female data scientists who can use these skills to solve problems in the field of public health.

What does Tier 1 training entail?

The Tier 1 program is designed to inspire Form Three high school girls with a passion for mathematics to pursue careers in Data Science and AI. This is a fully-funded, 10-day residential training, which includes learning trips. This program has been approved by the Ministry of Education.

Who is eligible?
  • Form 3 high school girls in public schools
  • Must demonstrate strong aptitude in mathematics
  • Applicants from underserved/marginalized communities are encouraged to apply
How are students selected?

If shortlisted, you will sit for a math test followed by a short interview at one of our partner regional universities.

Transport costs incurred while attending the Math contest will be reimbursed for both the applicant and one (1) accompanying parent/guardian.
Where will training happen?

Training and accommodation will take place at our partner universities across Kenya. Successful applicants will be placed in any of the following universities:

Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology
Meru University of Science and Technology
Dedan Kimathi University of Technology
Kabarak University
Pwani University
South Eastern Kenya University
If selected, transport to and from the training centre will be provided for both the beneficiary and one (1) accompanying parent/guardian on the admission day. Bedding arrangements including bed sheets, duvets, buckets and toiletries will be provided. Meals will also be provided during the training period.
What happens after training?
  • Beneficiaries who complete the 10-day training program will be awarded certificates during the graduation ceremony.
  • The program will follow up on beneficiaries' career paths after completing their secondary education.
What must I do before applying?
  • Go through the list of required documents and have them ready for uploading.
  • Download and print the parental consent form.
  • Have it signed by your parent/guardian.
  • Upload the signed consent form (only the signed page).
Applications without the parental consent form and the mandatory documents will not be considered.

The Tier 2 program is designed to equip young women in the final year of their STEM Diploma program, with skills in data science, AI and Machine Learning. This is a fully-funded, 20-day residential training, followed by a 6-week internship at a community health facility, where our beneficiaries get to apply their skills in real-world settings.

Who is eligible?
  • Diploma students in the final year of their STEM Diploma program
  • Must demonstrate strong aptitude in mathematics
  • Applicants from underserved/marginalized communities are encouraged to apply
How are students selected?

If shortlisted, you will sit for a math test, followed by a short interview at one of our partner regional universities.
