Igniting a Passion for STEM
Welcome to the ENGAGE Project’s Tier 1 Training Program, the foundational stage of our initiative. This program is specifically designed to ignite a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among secondary school girls, providing them with a solid launching pad for future careers in data science and AI.
Program Overview
Our Tier 1 training is a residential program that immerses students in the world of data. We introduce basic machine learning and statistical principles through engaging, real-world health topics like HIV prevention and maternal health. This approach not only teaches valuable skills but also demonstrates the profound impact data science can have on society.
We have trained 120 Form Three girls who can now code in Python, and we hope they will choose related courses at the undergraduate or college level

Selection Process
To ensure we reach the brightest and most motivated students, the ENGAGE Project collaborates with six regional university partners to host a Mathematics contest. Top-performing girls from this contest are invited to join the Tier 1 training, creating a cohort of exceptional young minds ready to be challenged and inspired.
