ENGAGE-ENabling Girls in AI and Growing Expertise

In preparation for August pilot training of young women in Tier 2 and 3, ENGAGE project successfully hosted a 3-day workshop with Master trainers with focus on refining content delivery strategies. University of Nairobi Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (UNITID), Data Analytics and Scientific Computing Lab (DASCLAB) in collaboration with University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and six regional Universities will empower young women through a health-focused training in data science and Artificial Intelligence.

Led by pedagogy expert Dr. Peter Mulwa from the University of Nairobi, the workshop brought together content developers from the fields of statistics, public health, and data science to prepare delivery methods and techniques to be used to train young women across the country. The goal was to learn, create lesson plans, and finalize the internal agenda to ensure effective content delivery for the young women-pursuing undergraduate and diploma courses in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) category.
