Who is eligible for GREEN-STEM Project Scholarship?

  • Women, who are nationals and residents in African countries from one of the participating partners.
  • Women, who are nationals and residents from the two additional universities in the Afretec Network i.e. Carnegie Mellon University Africa and American University of Cairo.

Can a student outside the GREEN-STEM consortium apply for a Scholarship?

Yes, they can apply as Target Group II (TG2) students, i.e. Women, who are National/citizens and residents of an African country are either enrolled or have earned a degree from the two additional universities in the Afretec Network, i.e Carnegie Mellon University Africa and American University of Cairo

Which universities make up the GREEN-STEM consortium?

The consortium is made up of University of Nairobi (Kenya),University of Lagos (Nigeria), University of Rwanda (Rwanda), University of Witwatersrand (South Africa), and, in Europe, University of Paris Science et Lettres (France).

How do you apply for the eligible programs & Scholarships?

  1. The Eligible Programs (master’s and Ph.D.) can be found on the GREEN-STEM website/the partners’ university’s official websites
  2. The Scholarship application form should be downloaded from the green-stem.uonbi.ac.ke website, filled, submitted in PDF with copies of other required documents, and sent to the partner universities and copy: advancement@uonbi.ac.ke

How do I apply for the GREEN-STEM Scholarship?

The scholarship application form is found on the GREEN-STEM website. It should be filled, and PDF copies of all the other required documents should be uploaded to the form

Who is a Target Group-I (TGI)/Target Group II (TGII) Applicant?

TGI- Women, who are Nationals/citizens of and residents in an African country, registered/admitted in or having obtained a degree from one of the African partners

What are the primary challenges addressed by the GREEN-STEM Project?

The project addresses challenges such as low development, inadequate Higher Education systems, youth unemployment, and carbonized economies by empowering African universities to lead sustainable development through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

What is the GREEN-STEM project, and what is its main objective?

The GREEN-STEM project is a cross-regional mobility cooperation between universities in Africa. GREEN-STEM’s mission is to put African Universities at the forefront of Sustainable and Green development and to empower their leadership to tackle the Climate Change impacts by Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
