At ENGAGE, we believe that the future of Data Science should be more inclusive, and that has to start early.
This year, we are excited to introduce Form 3 secondary school girls to the world of Data Science, AI, and Machine Learning. Our collective goal is to empower them to solve real-world problems, using modern tools that will be of benefit to them, their communities, and beyond.
This week, we began a 3-day curriculum development workshop in close collaboration with Curriculum and Pedagogy Expert, Dr. Peter Mulwa, PhD.
Together, we are co-creating a hands-on and exciting curriculum to spark curiosity, interest, and confidence in these young minds to pursue Data Science as a career path.
The workshop was opened by our Principal Investigator, Professor Julius Oyugi, and brought together key collaborators, including Dr. Timothy Kamanu (Co-PI Engage Project), representatives from our partners University of California, San Francisco, Engage Master Trainers, DASCLAB trainers and students, Power Learn Project Assistant Principal Suzan Kamau, subject matter experts in Math, Biology, and two of our inspiring project beneficiaries.
