The Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Human Resource and Administration at the University of Nairobi, Prof. John D. Mande, officially closed our Tier 1 content validation workshop.
Our team has been working hard over the last 3 days to ensure that the content we have in store for our Form 3 high school girls will help inspire more girls to join the field of data science and Artificial Intelligence.
Prof. Mande lauded the collaboration we have built, bringing together teams from the University of Nairobi, University of California San Francisco, Kabarak University, JARAMOGI OGINGA ODINGA UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (JOOUST), DEDAN KIMATHI UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (DeKUT), Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST), Pwani University, South Eastern Kenya University, CEMASTEA, Power Learn Project, and high school teachers, to increase access to digital modern-day tools for young girls from underserved communities.
Dr. Timothy Kamanu and Dr Sara Koki Muli-Kinagwi, our Co-Principal Investigators, deemed our content well-prepared. Our trainees can expect a rich introduction to coding, data collection, analysis, and interpretation, public health data, and the ethical use of AI, among other exciting lessons.
We wish to congratulate and thank our team for their passion, dedication, and for their role in championing equal and accessible opportunities for the girl child.
